Mother Earth must be in a good mood these days, because Ford Motor Company recently announced a plan to invest $4.5 billion on increasing plug-in hybrid, hybrid and electric car presence in their lineup by 2020. By then, a new version of the Ford Focus electric car and 13 other models will arrive on the market.

Ford Chief Executive Officer Mark Fields says that Ford expects consumers to opt for plug-in hybrids—"which allow drivers to operate part of the time on batteries recharged from the grid, and part of the time on gasoline"—to be the most popular in years to come.
